Hunting

Hunting is wide open. The hunter's dream vacation is routine here. In late August you can get that black-tailed deer that is 50lbs of lean and nutritious meat. You than follow that up with a black bear at tidewater in early September. Then grab the shotgun and bag the mallards and geese. If you still have a day or two, you troll for coho. May  is also a good time for black bear, which is also a good time for king salmon, steelhead, halibut, rockfish, dolly varden, Rainbow and cutthroat trout. Black bear hunting is phenomenal on Prince of Wales Island. It is common for 400 to be taken each season. Take a look why Prince of Wales Island is the best Hunting and Fishing getaway. Deer season runs August thru December. Black bear season runs Sept 1st
thru June 30 on Prince of Wales. Waterfowl hunting season starts Sept 1st and runs thru mid December.
Saltwater marshes and freshwater areas are good for ducks and geese.
